It's been a year since the cascading effects of the COVID-19 pandemic began to quickly shut down businesses and economies all over the world and accelerated a massive shift to remote work. When the pandemic began to spread in March 2020, IBM quickly moved about 95 percent of its 345,000 employees to work from home in a matter of days. As thousands of employees transitioned to working from home, IBMers Paul Papas, Molly Vannucci, Monica Logan and others began having open discussions about the challenges of taking care of family members and themselves while managing their work responsibilities. After receiving feedback from IBMers all over the world, they decided to take action and created the IBM Work From Home Pledge. In this discussion, Paul, Molly, and Monica will discuss their experience with co-creating a pledge in this new normal, lessons learned and how this has ultimately led to culture changes of company norms over the last year.
